ביוגרפיה

Israeli drummer Dani Danor has made a name for himself in the world’s most respected jazz scene, only six years after he first arrived in the United States. While studying at the New England Conservatory of Music (NEC) in Boston, Danor worked closely with legendary drummers Billy Hart and Bob Moses, as well as with saxophone giant George Garzone. Throughout his time in Boston, Danor performed regularly at the city’s most prominent venues, including the Beehive, Ryles Jazz Club, Wally’s Jazz Café, and the Lily Pad, as well as celebrated festivals such as Boston’s First Night and Jazz Week.

After graduating with honors in 2011, Danor relocated to New York City, where he currently resides. In just four years, he has already performed at all the major venues in New York including Birdland, Smalls, Dizzy’s at Lincoln Center, Jazz Standard, Smoke and Fat Cat. Danor has also toured across the US and Europe with world-renowned jazz artists including Cyrille Aimée, Peter Bernstein, Rotem Sivan, as well as rock star Cinjun Tate. In addition to performing, Danor has established himself as a recording artist, appearing on over 30 albums as a sideman and a leader.

In 2013, Danor joined Tipsy Oxcart, a 5-piece Balkan band. Over the course of three years, the ensemble has rapidly grown in popularity, touring extensively throughout the U.S, and performing in major venues and festivals including the Golden Festival, North America’s largest Balkan music festival. Following their recent release Upside Down (2015), co-produced and co-composed by Danor, Tipsy Oxcart has been receiving attention from prominent publications and broadcasts including The Boston Globe, WNYC, Pop Matters, and CBC, Canada’s national public radio, which featured Danor’s Composition Tipska from the album.

Dani Danor is also a member of the Cyrille Aimee Project, Arnan Raz Quintet, Ayal Tsubery Group, Brust/Horowitz Quintet and Éyal Hai Band.

Danor is a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship, NEC’s Beneficent Society scholarship, and the Eubie Blake Scholarship.
