Israeli violinist Yuval Herz has performed as soloist and chamber musician in concerts and festivals around the world. He has won numerous awards and prizes in several competitions, including the Claremont Award in 2010 and the Aviv Competition in 2014. Mr. Herz is a recipient of the America - Israel Cultural Foundation since 2003.
Herz has performed with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, The New Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Weimar-Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, the West Eastern Divan Orchestra and the NKO, under the conductors Michael Sanderling, Krystof Penderecki, Daniel Barneboim, Asher Fish, Alain Trudel and others. Yuval has played recitals in China, Israel, Italy, Germany, Holland and Canada, with well known artists such as Chen Halevy, Rosanne Philippens, Atar Arad, Zvi Plesser, Ron Ephrat, Yehonatan Berick, Avri Levitan, Maya Lahyani and others. He has played in prestigious halls such as the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the National Arts Centre in Canada, the Poly Theater in Beijing and the Lincoln Center in New York City, and many more.
He has served as the concertmaster of the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and Principal second violinist of the NKO. Yuval also participated in numerous summer festivals, among them are the Young Artists Program at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, the Perlman Music Program, Keshet Eilon Mastercourse, and has taken part in masterclasses with Ida Heandel, Ivery Gitlis, Pinchas Zukerman, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Zakher Bron, Arnold Steinhardt and Miriam Fried.
Born in Jerusalem in 1989, Herz began his musical studies at the age of 6. He studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, the Jacobs School of Music of the Indiana University and the University of Ottawa. His teachers was Michael Gaisler, Roi Shiloah, Chaim Taub, Mauricio Fuks and Yehonatan Berick. These days Yuval is completing his M.MUS at the New England Conservatory in the class of Donald Weilerstein. Herz is playing on a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin, on loan to him by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.
